Adventures in Canadian

Potluck on thursday at Carvers house. Short of any sort of revolt, we'll finally try to do the food inspired by a grocery store aisle. Due to Michael's weird infatuation with naming the list after Canadian landmarks, I've compiled an excellent list of Lakes in Ontario. Publicly declare your love for one of these lakes and I'll send you back an aisle number. (also I promise I didn't make any of these names up)

Lake Memewin
Lake Nipissing
Lake Nosbongsing
Lake Rosseau
Opeepeesway Lake
Skeleton Lake
Burnt Root Lake
Limerick Lake
Skottamata Lake
Lake Muskoka
Boshkung Lake
Crotch Lake
Kennisis Lake
Kawagawa Lake
Kashagawigamog Lake
Dalrymple Lake
Lake Scugoa

More interesting this week are the Limericks inspired by this unusual potluck theme...

I took a trip to Limerick Lake,
My skin the sun thoroughly baked,
My boat was too fast,
The speed limit passed,
And Matt perished in the cresting wake

-M. Larkum

Yes Limerick's the name that Kelley did take
So with Burnt Root, you will now with due make.
If you choose carrot
Be sure and share it
At this week's potluck-turned-Matt's wake.

the news of my death has surprised me
until now i was feeling quite lively
but i'm a believer
when canards have nice meter
make it Skeletor's lake for this limey

and in response to the above, and as a random announcement of the discovery of tiny kittens:

These three kittens we found three weeks past,
Though quite cute are a pain in the ass,
Their genitors we're not--
Their janitor's our lot,
But tomorrow it's over at last!

And also...
I once thought that Matt Cowan polite,
But I've clearly been proved wrong tonight,
For prior his passing
He bothered not asking
Which possessions of his I might like!

And finally (and here I must credit my inspiration to a past Thanksgiving in the company of my good friend Mara and her family)...
In the past I've attended potluck,
But I've a penchant for turkey and duck,
Vegan friends found it foul,
My obsession with fowl,
So next time it's tofurkey and tofuck.

on potluck thread this week i have slacked,
but tonight i assure you i'm back,
for both company and delicious food,
and to supply a good deal of booze,
mainly to hear, though, of these three mini cats.
